Community Service

        1.  REQUEST

The Court or Youth Service Bureau will be requested to present each case to the Library Director for review and consideration.

  1. REVIEW

The Library Director will review each request for community service “volunteers” on a case-by-case basis.

  1. RELEASE FORM

The community service volunteer and their parent/guardian, if under 18 years of age, will be required to sign the Community Service Liability Release form prior to the start of service.

  1. RESPONSIBILITY

The community service worker will be responsible for seeing that the work sheet is signed each day of work and will be responsible for their own work record. (See Sample Worksheet)

  1. EVALUATION

The Director will evaluate the performance of each individual as an employee would be evaluated and report to the Board monthly and to the Court/ Youth Service Bureau as requested.

  1. TREATMENT

The community service volunteer will be treated as an employee although they will receive no benefits or compensation for their service. The community service volunteer will be expected to follow all library and personnel policies.

  1. TERMINATION

The community service “volunteer” can and will be terminated at the Director’s discretion based on the individual’s performance and behavior while in the Library.
